Hi, I'm Jerome,

I'm a cisgender, gay, non-monogamous, neurodivergent Chinese immigrant living in Vancouver, on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

I believe everyone has an innate capacity to heal and grow. Yet, we can find ourselves caught in patterns shaped by childhood experiences, relationships, anxiety, and societal expectations.

Growing up in Hong Kong as a closeted gay man, I learned how frightening it could be to navigate my identity within strict social expectations. Over time, I developed a pattern of masking who I was to fit in. While this helped me navigate my environment, it eventually became a barrier to understanding myself more fully.

My own experiences have taught me how valuable it can be to have a space where we feel accepted and can explore aspects of ourselves that we rarely share elsewhere.

My hope is to offer that kind of space to the people I work with.

My Approach to Counselling

My approach is collaborative, curious, and attentive to the experiences and strengths each person brings into the room.

I'm particularly interested in how our early experiences, relationships, and social environments shape the ways we understand ourselves and connect with others.

As a student counsellor, I'm developing my clinical approach through ongoing learning, supervision with Sam Trivett, and couples and relationships training in the Gottman Method. I'm also exploring ideas from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other relational approaches.

I'm interested in supporting people to become more curious about their patterns, understand the different parts of themselves, and develop greater freedom in how they relate to themselves and others.

Some of the experiences we might explore together include:

  • Queer identity, sexuality, and relationships

  • Non-monogamy and alternative relationship structures

  • Neurodivergence, masking, and self-understanding

  • Anxiety, shame, and self-criticism

  • Childhood experiences and relationship patterns

  • Communication, intimacy, and connection
