What Is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy bridges the mind and body to address emotional pain at its roots. Traumatic experiences are often held not only in memory but also in muscle tension, breathing patterns, and nervous system dysregulation.

Rather than pushing through or analyzing your experience, we’ll work slowly and collaboratively to attune to your body’s cues like sensations, images, emotions, and movements. This body-first approach supports healing from CPTSD, attachment wounding, dissociation, and more.

Somatic Therapy Can Help You:

• Feel safer and more grounded in your body

• Shift chronic anxiety, shutdown, or hypervigilance

• Understand your triggers and build resilience

• Reconnect with sensation, pleasure, and presence

• Increase your capacity for intimacy and authenticity

A Somatic Approach for Neurodivergent Folks

Somatic therapy can be especially supportive for neurodivergent people whose nervous systems are shaped by sensory sensitivity, chronic overwhelm, shutdown, or numbness. Rather than asking you to manage or override these responses, this work begins by understanding them as intelligent adaptations to environments that may have been too much, too fast, or not enough.

Working at the pace of your nervous system, we focus on building capacity for sensation and emotion without pushing or forcing change. Over time, this can support greater self awareness and earlier recognition of activation, allowing you to respond with care rather than collapse or overload. The aim is not to fix who you are, but to support ways of living and relating that actually fit your nervous system.
